Parfums de Marly Greenley (Review): Crisp & Casual

Parfums de Marly Greenley is a fragrance for men released in 2020. It’s categorised as a bright, aromatic scent with a pronounced green aura flowing throughout. As a huge Parfums de Marly enthusiast I knew I had to try this release. And you know what? I’m very glad I did – its crisp and casual qualities make it an absolute winner. Hang around and I’ll explain.

Parfums de Marly Greenley smells like sparkling apple and sweet musk

Parfums de Marly Greenley contains apple, bergamot, petitgrain, cashmeran, cedar, oakmoss, musk, and amberwood.

It opens with a bright, energetic combination of apple and bergamot. The apple exudes a crisp and fruity feel, whilst the bergamot smells fresh and rounded.

Alongside the spirited opening duo weaves petitgrain. It exudes a green, sparkling essence that adds a pleasant bitter texture.

Fans of Roja Elysium will note some similarities here. Although they don’t smell the same, the uplifting, fizzy citrus blend does draw parallels.

Once Greenley progresses, three heart notes emerge:

• Cashmeran – provides a soft powderiness that smells warm and sleek;
• Cedar – represents the first traces of woods to appear, producing a dry masculine energy; and
• Oakmoss – supports the green notes above with a tinge of ‘foresty’ and earthy tones.

As Greenley dries down, the sparkling citruses withdraw. Then, the heart notes mingle around musk and amberwood that float to the surface. This duo reinforces the earlier effervescence, whilst imbuing new whiffs of sweetness.

In summary, Parfums de Marly Greenley starts as a sparkling apple fragrance with supporting citruses and greenness. It transitions through silky casherman and woods, before settling as an airy, sweet musk.

The opening is uplifting, pure green apple. But the mid and dry down is heavenly imo. Absolutely love it. To me it turns into a creamy green frag. I start getting hints of Layton the more it dries down, underneath the citrus/green apple. Perfect combo and smells like nothing else out there to me. Performance exceeded my expectations

Greenley’s performance exceeded my expectations.

I didn’t foresee wonders with projection and longevity but I was pleasantly surprised.

Specifically, it projects mildly for the first 2 hours, before enduring closer to skin for a further 6. Therefore, expect 8 hours of total lasting power.

Additionally, it tends to last even longer when the weather warms up. 

Foolproof for casual wear

Greenley is ideal for casual situations.

In detail, you should wear this when running errands, attending social events, and catching up with friends.

However, its light-hearted nature also fits for daytime dates. Often, we just want make a great first impression with an inoffensive, friendly aroma. And seasonally, this cologne will help achieve that during moderate and warmer temps.

Although fashionable, Greenley lacks an elegant, sophisticated edge. Thus, Parfums de Marly Percival is a stronger choice for the office and classy events.

In Conclusion – Parfums de Marly Greenley

Greenley is a much needed addition to the fresh fragrance stable of Parfums de Marly.

Yet, it differs from those past releases, thanks to the dispersion of energetic green apple that’s supported by smooth, sweet and woody components.

Hard to hate and effortlessly charming, Greenley is another attractive release from my favourite niche house.
