Parfums de Marly Percival Reviewed for 2024 [Updated]
Percival is a 2018 cologne release from the ascending niche fragrance house Parfums de Marly. I’ve owned a bottle of this scent for a year and worn it on plenty of occasions to fully explore it. Therefore, I’m really keen to summarise my thoughts and let you know if you should buy it this year!
Cologne Notes
Percival is noted as a fresh, aromatic scent for men. Some of the main notes include bergamot, lavender, mandarin, cinnamon, hedione, coriander, ambroxan, amberwood and musk.
How Does Percival Smell?
When I first spray this cologne on my skin the bergamot, lavender, mandarin and ambroxan offers a fresh and uplifting combination!
Once this scent starts to dry, some of the more complex accords come into play. The musk, cinnamon, coriander, and hedione give more depth to the fragrance whilst boosting the freshness with a touch of spice.
And if you’re not aware, studies on hedione suggest it has an arousal effect on some women.
To my nose, this is what I’d describe as a fresh, modern clean scent for men that is superbly well-blended. Additionally, it has mass appeal and an energetic characteristic to it due to the citrus and spicy undertones.
Percival comes in 75ml and 125ml bottles. It’s an Eau de Parfum (EDP) concentration.

Longevity and Projection
For a fresh scent, I was quite surprised at how well this fragrance performs. On me, the scent projects out strongly for a few hours and lasts for 6-8 hours total.
Occasions and Versatility
This cologne is a star in the versatility category! I’d feel comfortable saying you could wear this with confidence on any occasion if you wanted. I certainly have, and haven’t regretted it!
If you’re over 20 and dress well, this fragrance will work wonders for you. If you’re a teenager and after something fresh, I’d recommend you look at some offerings from Versace instead.
As with all Parfums de Marly fragrance releases, the bottle design is second to none. Moreover, the deep-blue bottle colour captures the vibe of the scent within, and the bottle itself is supremely sturdy and durable. Everything about this scent exudes quality.

Should You Buy Parfums de Marly Percival This Year?
Updated: In my opinion, there is no doubt that you should at least sample PDM Percival this year.
Percival is a classy, fresh fragrance for men. It’s ideal for the office and suitable for both formal and casual events. Furthermore, it’s appropriate for hot days – a rare attribute amongst colognes.
For a fresh scent, Percival initially surprised me with its terrific performance. In fact, I’d rate the longevity and projection right up there with its powerhouse sibling PDM Layton.
Percival is a niche fragrance that will forever be in my collection due to its versatility and mass appeal. I’d suggest you add it to yours.
