Bleu de Chanel Parfum (review): Is It Worth Buying?
Bleu de Chanel Parfum is a popular men’s fragrance by famed designer Chanel. It’s a recent release in the renowned line of Bleu de Chanel colognes. The Parfum is often described as a fresh, woody, aromatic scent. In my opinion, this is definitely a worthwhile fragrance to buy. However, let’s see my reasoning why!
Bleu de Chanel Parfum smells like lemon zest, creaminess, and woods
Refined and mature are two words I’d use to illustrate the energy that this scent exudes. It features an addictive zesty freshness, coupled with a masculine combination of alluring woods.
When sprayed on skin, I immediately smell the lively citrus notes of lemon zest and bergamot. Soon thereafter, I observe a soft, airy, lavender accord pulsating in the background.
This is quite the contrast to Bleu de Chanel EDP, which leans heavier on grapefruit and incense.
Despite the presence of the earlier ingredients – the emerging main players are cedar, sandalwood and amberwood. This trio combines to elicit a woody, sophisticated powdery aura.
The dry down brings further development. There’s a hint of the zesty citrus, though it’s the creamy woods rotating into the driver’s seat. Having this creamy aroma project off my skin makes me feel like a refined, worldly character.
Chanel has clearly worked hard crafting this composition – balancing fresh, sweet and smooth qualities can be a difficult endeavour.
As flagged, Bleu de Chanel comes in a few versions, each different from the last. If you’re not familiar with differences of perfume concentrations, check out this article.

It lasts AGES on skin
Although Bleu De Chanel Parfum projects softly, its longevity is tremendous. I get 12 hours of total longevity, with projection out from my skin for the first 2.
I’ve worn this countless times in my workplace – after application first thing in the morning, I continue to smell whiffs well after dark.
It’s extremely versatile
This is a flexible superstar. It’s what I like to call an ‘easy reach’. The scent is marketed for evening wear, although I believe that mandate is misguided.
I’ve actually worn this more during the day time, as it’s well-suited to formal occasions. Its mass appeal allows you to spray with confidence in casual circumstances too.
White-collar professionals and gents with fashion sense will likely enjoy this most. It matches fittingly with a suit, black tie, business wear, button-up shirts, chinos, and so on.
Check out what this fragrance reviewer had to say about BDC Parfun:
Class in a bottle. This is easily the best Bleu de Chanel out there. Smooth and discrete with excellent longevity. Smells like the EDT’s and EDP’s more refined older brother.
