Mancera Amore Caffe is freaking DELICIOUS (Review)

Mancera has done it. For the first time in years, the brand has released a gourmand showstopper. Amore Caffe is a sugared, syrupy delight, bursting with indulgent ingredients. Coffee and amaretto lead the way but there’s much more waiting underneath. It’s so well blended that even the critics will appreciate what it has to offer. Read on for my full review.

Amore Caffe smells like a sweet, syrupy delight

Let’s go over the notes first. They include coffee, amaretto, ice cream, vanilla, brown sugar, and ambergris. Holy smokes, that’s one hell of a sugary overdose. But how does it actually smell?

Well, it begins with the pairing of coffee and amaretto. The syrupy, liqueur-like amaretto gives off hints of almonds. Combined with the realistic, soft and warm coffee note it smells enticing and edible.

Then, the coffee simmers down. Ice cream takes its place. The ice cream smells like a thick vanilla rendition – startlingly similar to the real thing.

Also, hints of actual vanilla come into play here. They’re soft but add to the presence of the ice cream.

Brown sugar and ambergris emerge in the dry down. The brown sugar evokes caramel-like sweetness, whilst ambergris adds warmth and depth.

Impressively, Amore Caffe never turns sickly or overbearing. For such a sweet syrupy scent that seems impossible. Yet Mancera has done a phenomenal job maintaining a polished and authentic smell.

Additionally, Amore Caffe is a huge upgrade from coffee colognes I’ve recommended before. For example, Ferragamo Uomo. But given Uomo is a fraction of the cost, I guess that isn’t fair comparison to make.

However, some critics do make direct connections between this and Kilian Angels’ Share. Sure, they’re both sugared, nutty, and unisex – but that’s where the comparisons end. One has more syrupy coffee, the other more sparkling booze. Both worth trying, but far from the same.

Other reviewers love it

Remarkably, I had a hard time finding any entirely critical reviews. A few reviewers were put off by the sweet overdose, but that’s it. And regardless, they still praised how well blended it smells. Here’s a few of the best ones I found on Fragrantica.com:

This is probably the best fragrance Mancera have done in a long time. It’s very gourmand, very well blended, not synthetic or screechy at all. However, it’s also very soft and sits very close to the skin, which is not something you would expect from Mancera. If you don’t mind that, and you are looking for a realistic, sweet coffee scent, this could be for you.

Seriously the best Mancera ever. Much higher quality ingredients and a better blend overall compared to other Mancera/Montale fragrances. Starts with an initial blast of a coffee latte and syrupy sweetness. Starts to dry into a very very sweet vanilla fragrance with hints of brown sugar and amaretto with some very slight coffee nuances.

Rating performance and versatility

What level of performance do I get? Well, the sillage is soft but it does linger on skin forever. It projects out softly for 4 hours, then sits closer for a further 6. 10 hours of total lasting power is the usual for me.

Furthermore, I recommend you spray Amore Caffe anytime you want to smell delectable. It’s perfect for date night or any romantic rendezvous. Much like the ultra-flirty Mancera Instant Crush. However, I’ve worn Amore Caffe many times casually too.

Can be worn casually in cold weather

Predictably, it’s totally agreeable to colder and moderate temps. It’s currently winter in Australia and I’ve been happily spraying away. The only time you shouldn’t wear it is on hot and humid days.

In Summary – Mancera Amore Caffe

mancera amore caffe

Mancera has been criticised in the past for synthetic and screechy blends. Amore Caffe shifts that narrative big time.

It’s a smooth, sweet indulgence from beginning to end. Starting with the coffee and amaretto, and concluding with soft caramel-like vanilla and ice cream tones.

This addictive juice is a clear sign of promising things to come.
