Rasasi Hawas Ice – Better than the OG? (Review)

Rasasi Hawas Ice had me rabid with anticipation. I love the original Hawas, so I couldn’t contain myself when this flanker was announced in 2023. Although blind buying is peak stupidity, I just had to break my own rule. And it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Rasasi, take a bow. Hawas Ice is an improvement on the original. Today I’ll explain why!

What does Hawas Ice smell like?

Let’s kick off with the notes. Rasasi Hawas Ice contains Italian lemon, bergamot, apple, star anise, plum, amber, and musk.

Firstly, you’ll smell the Italian lemon and bergamot. These citruses provide a fresh burst that immediately invigorates the senses.

Additionally, apple and a sprinkling of star anise are other prominent elements early on. They give off an addictive, crisply sweet and spicy fruitiness.

Apple plays a prominent role in Ice

Things change slightly in the mid phase. The citruses lose some of their earlier strength. Furthermore, a fruity plum accord starts giving off juicy whiffs alongside the apple.

New notes come forth during the dry down. Musk and amber emerge as the main pulsating force here. However, they’re supported by remnants of that earlier sweet fruity plum and apple.

With the scent breakdown sorted, there’s an important question to answer. How does it shape up to the original Hawas?

The OG is more aquatic, with a big emphasis on watery notes. Also, it leans heavier into spice and warmth with the cinnamon and ambergris.

Hawas Ice is crisper, fresher, and fruitier. More citruses, more apple, and more uplifting. Although it has some spice, it ain’t anything compared to the OG.

What do other reviewers say?

Reviewers on Fragrantica have plenty of positive comments like this one:

I liked the original Hawas but I love Hawas Ice. It’s more fresh and vibrant with a soft sweetness to it. It’s gotten me some attention! A coworker got a whiff of it and said “you always smell so good” also had a friend of mine ask what I was wearing. This could be a great all year round fragrance for any guy.

However there’s also some amusing criticism:

Hawas Ice is many things, but a serious fragrance it is not. Despite its name, there is absolutely nothing “icy”, “cool”, or “refreshing” about this scent profile. It is an overly sweet, saccharine, fragrance that has strayed away from its Invictus Aqua roots.

My rating of the performance and versatility.

I spoke highly of the performance of the original Hawas. The projection and longevity is stellar for an aquatic scent.

Hawas Ice doesn’t perform the same. It performs better.

I get 5 hours of moderate to high projection off the skin. Then, it settles closer to skin for another 7 hours. Therefore, it lasts for a whopping total of 12 hours. I spray in the morning and have no worries all day. It’s much more potent than Invictus Aqua – a cologne it’s sometimes compared to.

Wear Hawas Ice casually

Additionally, Ice can be worn in a versatile way. Wear it casually, to the gym, or on nights out. It’s a robust all-rounder that’s daily scent worthy.

Seasonally, I enjoying wearing Ice most in moderate to warmer months. Nevertheless, those spicy, ambery, and musky notes do waft liberally through chilly air. So keep it ready to go in winter too boys.

Rasasi Hawas Ice makes the DNA even better.

It’s uncommon that flankers surpass their predecessors. However, Hawas Ice does exactly that.

This is a refreshing, vibrant take on the OG Hawas. Ice has lively character thanks to more focus on citruses and fruits. The apple and plum are juicy, welcome additions.

I’m aggressively spraying through my bottle of Ice. Gonna have to start rationing soon. So yeah, wish me luck.
