Louis Vuitton Meteore has quickly become the LV fragrance I reach for most. Not an easy feat since I also own standouts like L’Immensite and Afternoon Swim. Since picking up Meteore earlier this year, it’s consistently ticked all the boxes and smells incredibly masculine. Today, I’m going to describe it in more detail and give you my final rating.

When Meteore came out in 2020, it became part of Louis Vuitton’s growing fragrance range under Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The concept behind Meteore draws on the image of a shooting star – a powerful streak cutting through the atmosphere.
However, rather than leaning into a light citrus profile, the scent was built to have aura. It’s a fresh men’s scent with a confident backbone. In other words, while it sits in the citrus-aromatic category, it was designed to be strong rather than light.
What Does Meteore Smell Like?
Louis Vuitton Meteore revolves around bergamot, mandarin, neroli, black pepper, pink pepper, and vetiver. On paper, that reads bright and fresh. On skin, it’s way more complex than you think.
Opening: The fragrance opens with an uplifting burst of mandarin and bergamot. The citrus carries a soapy cleanliness that immediately gives it refinement, reminiscent of LV Imagination. There’s also a subtle greenness which gives it texture. Shortly after, the neroli emerges, adding a light tangy zest and a faint floral touch.
Heart: As it settles, the smell becomes fresher yet spicier. Black pepper and pink pepper show up, introducing some liveliness. The spice stays controlled and never turns sharp.
At the same time, an aromatic edge develops, reinforcing the opening’s clean profile. The soapiness slightly softens, yet the freshness stays intact. This is where Meteore starts to feel more structured.
Dry Down: Once it dries down, vetiver moves forward. It brings a woody green backbone that adds a sense of quiet masculine confidence. The vetiver doesn’t become earthy or heavy – instead, it works with the citrus and spice, giving the fragrance depth. The result is a smooth transition from brightness to backbone.

For a citrus-based fragrance, Louis Vuitton Meteore is surprisingly strong. On my skin, it projects strongly for around five hours before settling closer. After that, it continues lingering for another four hours, giving close to nine hours of total longevity.
It’s also pretty versatile. The scent excels in summer and moderate conditions, where the citrus feels vibrant and the spice remains lively without becoming overwhelming. At the same time, its clean soapiness allows it to operate fantastically in office environments.
Moreover, it also works well in casual daytime settings such as coffee dates, social meet-ups, or general daily wear. Its inoffensive personality even makes it appropriate for daytime formal events and special occasions, like weddings.
However, I think there’s fragrances better suited to wintery conditions. Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade, for example, is far more tailored to the chilly season.

Louis Vuitton Meteore wins because it expertly balances freshness, spice, and depth – 3 qualities I look for in LV fragrances. It begins with bright citrus layered over a clean, soapy freshness, lifted with a touch of pepper, and settling into a confident vetiver base – all backed by strong performance for its style.
