Valentino Uomo Intense review: Worth Buying in 2022? [Answered]
Valentino Uomo Intense is a men’s cologne release from designer house Valentino. The original Valentino Uomo was so successful that the brand created a vanilla, iris and leather-based flanker. Although released in 2016 I was only recently introduced to this fragrance. It’s totally impressed me after several wearings and it’s time I tell you why. Read on for the next few minutes as I share my thoughts.
What does Valentino Uomo Intense smell like?
Valentino Uomo Intense is a sweet, powdery scent that contains notes of mandarin, sage, tonka, iris, vanilla, and leather.
On first spray, the mandarin and sage notes appear. The mandarin gives a tangy burst of freshness. The sage provides a crisp, mildly herbaceous boost.
However, both opening accords are overshadowed by the floral iris. The iris casts a powdery and sweet aroma, drawing similarities to Dior Homme Intense. Additionally, the sweetness is induced by a dark vanilla note that makes its presence known early. The sweet powderiness envelops and surrounds the opening aromatic notes.
As Uomo Intense develops further, two changes occur:
- The mandarin and sage notes soften, bringing composure to the scent
- Tonka bean appears, adding some gourmand, nutty sweetness to support the vanilla
Once fully dried on skin, the aroma changes once more. Some of the sweetness subsides, revealing more of the powdery iris.
The leather note finally arrives to support its floral companion. It’s sensible and inoffensive, yet adds mysterious masculine depth to Uomo Intense.
Overall, I enjoy the scent’s development. It opens as aromatic, sweet and powdery. Then dries down into a sweet, powdery, and leather composition. Unsurprisingly, it reminds me of an Intense version of the original Valentino Uomo. Like the OG, but with vanillic sweetness and iris cranked way up.
Check out this reviewer’s thoughts:
Strong Iris beautifully balanced with tonka/vanilla and leather. Absolutely gorgeous! Describing it without using the notes I’d say it’s a loud, clean, sweet, and sexy fragrance. It’s everything women love in a man’s fragrance wrapped in one.Fragrantica.com
What’s the performance like?
After testing, I rate the performance of Uomo Intense as moderate to high.
This performs robustly on skin, projecting out for the first 4 hours and lasting for 8 in total. On clothing it’ll last even longer, especially the powdery iris note.
Who can wear this, and when?
Valentino Uomo Intense is a scent for specific circumstances. It isn’t the most versatile scent in my wardrobe. Nor do I want it to be.
However, it’s absolutely first class for nights out, dates, or any activities in cold weather.
Additionally, it’s suitable for mature guys. That’s due to the powdery iris which gives a sophisticated ‘grown up’ feeling. Age 30+ would be best, but those of you well-dressed aged 25+ could pull it off.
So – is Valentino Uomo Intense worth buying?
You guys already know what way I’m leaning here.
Valentino Uomo Intense is another distinguished release from the house of Valentino. The cologne is classy yet provocative, thanks to a prominent iris accord supported by dark vanilla and leather.
Undeniably, I consider this scent a worthy purchase this year. Uomo Intense feels refined and masculine, acting as an affordable, sweeter alternative to Dior Homme Intense.
