Tom Ford Ombre Leather (Review)

Tom Ford Ombre Leather is a 2018 cologne release from the popular designer house Tom Ford. It’s one of the most popular and well-known colognes from the brand. I bought a bottle last year, and since then I’ve worn it in many different situations. Therefore, I’m going to give you my opinion if I think it’s worth buying this year.

Cologne Notes

The main notes in this fragrance include leather, jasmine, amber, moss, cardamom, and patchouli.

How Does Ombre Leather Smell?

When I first spray it on my skin, I can immediately smell the distinct leather accord. It smells exactly like you’d expect a brand new leather jacket to smell.

In detail, the leather here is very masculine and smooth. Once you get your nose on this cologne, you’ll see what I mean. Through the opening, I can also pick up a subtly sweet note. I believe this is coming from the warm spicy cardamom, which is operating faintly in the background.

Ombre Leather’s dry down is where its complexity and elegance shows itself. Notably, I start to pick out the white floral jasmine and green mossy accords. These support in rounding out the leather and providing it a mass-appealing quality.

The amber and patchouli announce themselves as the fragrance develops further. They add a degree of depth and complexity to the existing composition of notes.

Make no bones about it though, the leather is the main star throughout the life of the fragrance.

Longevity and Projection

The performance is respectable for a cologne in this price range. It projects moderately by 2 feet for the first 2-3 hours then settles into a skin scent for another 10-12+ hours. On me, it lasts as a skin scent for a long time.

Furthermore, be mindful that Ombre Leather can last for days if sprayed on clothes.

Occasions and Versatility

I’ve worn this best at night – it doesn’t really matter on the season, although I would choose something else on warm nights. Additionally, cool days work well and are effective in conveying Ombre Leather’s inviting scent trail.

Guys of all ages who like to wear denim, leather, and boots, you’re in luck. This fragrance is appropriate for you in casual settings.

The bottle design is also a nice touch. It has a smooth, black finish with a rectangular leather patch inserted where the Tom Ford logo is. The finish of the bottle reminds me of the smell of the fragrance itself.

Should You Buy Tom Ford Ombre Leather This Year?

Update: Tom Ford Ombre Leather was the cologne that started me on my fragrance journey. Therefore, there’s no doubt in my mind you should give it a try this year. At the very least, I urge you to get a sample.

The jasmine, moss, and deeper notes are skilfully blended with the leather. Furthermore, this scent is deep and complex without becoming too overbearing.

This smooth leather aroma appeals to a lot of people, men and women equally.

It’s more situational than other colognes I’ve reviewed, no doubt about it. However, it’s full bottle worthy for when those situations do arise.
