Tom Ford Eau d’Ombre Leather is WAY different (review)
Tom Ford Eau d’Ombre Leather, launched in 2024, is the most unexpected addition to the Ombre Leather lineup yet. Unlike its predecessors, it takes a surprising turn, crafting a scent that feels entirely new – but in the best way possible. There’s a few major changes which have ignited plenty of discussion. Intrigued? Stick around for two minutes and I’ll break it down.
Eau d’Ombre is different.
Tom Ford Eau d’Ombre makes a huge departure from the last two Ombre Leather flankers – being the EDP and Parfum.
Eau d’Ombre Leather introduces a fresher, sweeter, and casual approach to the beloved Ombre Leather DNA. It contains notes of vanilla, leather, ginger, coriander, cardamom, and ambroxan.
On first spray you’ll smell the vanilla – a big deviation from the past releases. It smells like an addictive, silky and buttery sweetness.
Then comes a leather accord. Big surprise huh? However, the leather here is unlike what we’ve seen before. That’s because it’s smoother, softer, and way less animalic.
Additionally, I pick up on fresher, spicier aspects. The former coming from ginger and faint coriander which provides some uplifting zing. The latter from a warm and composed cardamom accord.
Over time, the creamy vanillic sweetness starts peeling away. It makes way for a dry down that comes off warm and supple. Additionally, the amber comes to the forefront and adds sensual mystery.

For those who don’t like dominant leather notes like me but like leather accords in perfume notes, the harmony with vanilla is great. Its performance is very successful despite being an EDT and its price is really affordable.

To conclude, the launch of Eau d’Ombre Leather was completely unexpected. However it turned out to be one of my favourite releases of the year.
This version does things different to past Ombre Leather colognes. It freshens up the DNA and reduces the leather, making it more appealing. Furthermore, it infuses a quality, addictive vanilla accord that’s simply unforgettable.
