JPG Le Male Le Parfum – Worth the Money? [Review]
JPG Le Male Le Parfum is one of the newest releases from iconic designer Jean Paul Gaultier. It’s the latest in a long line of Le Male fragrances dating back decades. Since I’ve extensively sampled and worn Le Parfum, in today’s review I’ll let you know if it’s worth the money.
What notes does it contain?
It contains cardamom, lavender, iris, vanilla, oriental notes, and woodsy notes.
How Does Le Male Le Parfum Smell?
Le Male Le Parfum opens with a warm spicy cardamom accord. Vanilla is also immediately present. The vanilla adds an airy sweetness through the opening. It isn’t sickly sweet – here it just acts as an appropriate balance to the warm spice.
Furthermore, I can smell a delicate inclusion of lavender in the background. Like many other men’s colognes, it plays a supplementary role and adds a sense of calmness to the composition.
As the cologne develops, an iris note rises to the surface. It smells powdery and floral, but only slightly. It’s nowhere near as pronounced as iris in other fragrances, such as Dior Homme Intense.
When Le Parfum dries on skin, the spicy cardamom withdraws, as does the sweet vanilla.
The collection of woody notes come to the forefront. They add structure and ruggedness in collaboration with the iris. Moreover, the oriental notes appear at this stage as well, providing some extra complexity in the form of subtle, spicy sweetness.
In summary, JPG Le Male Le Parfum opens as a warm spicy and sweet scent, drying down to a woody floral, oriental aroma. I consider this a more grown up, contemporary Le Male fragrance. It’s mature and dark, but not in a way that takes itself too seriously.

It features modest performance
JPG Le Male Le Parfum has modest performance. It projects about 1-2 feet from my skin for the first 2 hours. Then, it settles down to a skin scent for a further 8 hours after that.
It’s an intimate fragrance that won’t project loudly but will draw others in closer.
Occasions and Versatility
JPG Le Male Le Parfum is appropriate for Autumn, Winter, and Spring. However, I think there are better fragrances to wear in the summer heat, such as Versace Dylan Blue.
Although Le Parfum isn’t the most versatile scent I have reviewed, it has excellent suitability for casual events and date nights.
Le Parfum has received plenty of positive feedback in the fragrance community. Check out what this reviewer had to say:
This feels like a more refined, slightly toned-down version of Ultra Male. This feels more balanced, the cardamom makes it a little more sensual, the lavender-iris combo make it slightly powdery in the mid, a great blend of sweet and spiced oriental notes overall, the best release from Jean Paul Gaultier yet IMO

However, if you wanted to increase the price? Dior Sauvage Elixir is worth looking into as an alternative.
