Absolute, unrefined dogshit that doesn’t warrant being in the Dior Homme line up. In line with the current enshittification trend that has been prevalent in the industry for a couple of years now.

Notwithstanding the condemnation, it’s a bloody good scent you need to check out. Let me explain.

So what does it smell like?

Dior Homme Parfum 2025 contains five accords including iris, amber, patchouli, vetiver, and woods.

Opening: The fragrance begins with a delicate iris note. It smells a little powdery and sweet, in line with a Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee type smell. Also, the amber accord is noticeable. It adds a distinct warmth and slight nuttiness to the opening.

Heart: As it develops, the earthy undertones come forth. Patchouli adds depth and smells masculine, balancing the initial floral iris. Additionally, you’ll smell the vetiver which gives it a natural feel.

Dry Down: Once it dries, I continue smelling hints of the earlier notes – particularly the sweet iris and slight earthiness. However, it’s now accompanied by woods. The woods ground the scent and add a layer of maturity.

I’d describe Dior Homme Parfum 2025 as understated elegance. There aren’t a ton of notes, but they combine in a way that smells sophisticated and mass appealing. It’s a phenomenal smell that has a warm, polished, modern vibe about it.

Nevertheless, there’s no doubt this version is far removed from the original. It lacks the richness, intensity, and complexity of its predecessor. There’s no similarity between these two but the name.

Is it versatile? How does it perform?

Versatility is one of its strongest features. Dior Homme Parfum is suitable for several occasions. However, here’s the 3 situations I most like to spray it on:

Daytime Wear: Its classiness makes it appropriate for professional settings like the office or even dressy daytime outings. Similarly to Dior Homme Intense.
Evening Events: The warmth and depth provide a touch of elegance for dinners or special social gatherings.
Close Encounters: The intimate sillage ensures it won’t overwhelm, making it ideal for romantic date nights.

Additionally, the performance is a step down from the OG. This new version lasts on my skin for 7-8 hours in total. It projects out softly for the first 2 or 3 hours before it sits closer to the skin. Yet I don’t mind that, since I wear it to the office and don’t want to vaporise my co-worker’s noses.

In summary, don’t listen to all the doomers taking a dump on Dior Homme Parfum 2025.

This 2025 relaunch is an incredible cologne on its own. It’s a more restrained take on the iris DNA, blended with fashionable warm amber and woods.

Despite losing the daring edge that made the original so unique, this latest rendition takes the scent into a chic, modern direction.

Truthfully, it’s only polarising because of the name association with the original. The petty fragrance snobs just like to whinge. If it didn’t carry the expectations of its predecessor, this would be a smash hit.
