Creed Viking (Review): Should you BUY?
Viking is a 2017 cologne release from the popular niche fragrance house Creed. It burst onto the scene and immediately drew interest due to the fame of its older sibling Aventus. I’ve worn Viking many times now and accordingly I’m ready to give you my quick review!
Cologne Notes
Creed lists the main notes of Viking as pink pepper, mint, bergamot, lavender, sandalwood, Sicilian lemon, vetiver (grassy notes) with a touch of rose.
A promising collection of notes there I must say.
How Does Creed Viking Smell?
When I first spray Viking I can smell a fresh burst of citrus with green and spicy notes. This would likely be the bergamot, mint, lemon, vetiver, and pepper.
The opening is very pleasant. It’s appealing, smooth and mature.
The mint and bergamot are nice, but I think the star player here is the pink pepper. To emphasize, I believe it pushes the fragrance over the top to produce a distinctive, masculine edge.
Once Viking dries down, the scent does change a bit. It becomes pure class and quite aromatic to my nose – the spicy mint and pepper are still there, but the citrus fades away. The citrus is replaced by lavender and sandalwood.
I’ve said it many times before, but nevertheless – sandalwood is one of my favourite notes used in cologne. In Viking, it gives a refined feel and adds to the other high-quality ingredients used.
Creed Viking is the very definition of what a ‘fresh spicy’ cologne should be.
Creed Viking comes in an Eau de Parfum (EDP) concentration. It comes in bottle sizes of 1.69 ounces (50ml) and 3.38 ounces (100ml).

Longevity and Projection
The performance of this scent is average. It projects out from my skin for a few hours, and lasts for 6-8 hours total. Creed is not known for scents with strong projection or longevity, and Viking is no different. Your mileage may vary so it’s worth trying for yourself.
Occasions and Versatility
The versatility of Viking is excellent. To explain, I can’t see a situation where you wouldn’t be able to wear this. It’s casual appropriate, it’s formal appropriate, and it’s suitable for both day and night.
If you have style and strive to dress well, this fragrance is for you. The classy, masculine vibes I get from this are totally off the charts.
I think you need to be in your mid 20’s or older to take full advantage of this scent though.
Younger guys, you might want to try something a bit more fun and playful. Most Versace fragrances are a great option.
Have a look at what this reviewer had to say about this scent:
I love this fragrance. Spicy mint is very strong, but it has some citrusy fruitiness going on with the lavender and roses also noticeable in the background. It’s a spicy fresh fragrance with a hint of sweetness. Very versatile. Could be worn day or night in any season.

Should You Buy Creed Viking This Year?
Update: Creed Viking is a classy scent that has excellent versatility for many occasions. It’s absolutely worth picking up this year.
To me, this fragrance is timeless and transcends generations. Specifically, I don’t think a scent like this would ever go out of fashion.
Viking is one of the best ‘fresh spicy’ colognes I have ever laid my nose on. The pepper and mint combine so smoothly with the citrus, green notes and other accords.
This fragrance works best for men who are 25 and over (like me). However, if you’re under 25 and take pride in dressing well, I’d still urge you to give it a go.
