CK One Shock Cologne Review: Buy or Avoid?

CK One Shock is a men’s cologne release from the very popular designer brand Calvin Klein. I read many positive reviews and proceeded to buy a bottle. After wearing it many times now, I’m going to summarise if I think you should buy it this year!

Cologne Notes

CK One Shock is labelled as an aromatic, oriental and fresh spicy fragrance for men. Some of the main notes listed are tobacco, amber, patchouli, lavender, cardamom, pepper, and mandarin.

How Does CK One Shock Smell?

When first sprayed on skin I can smell the cherry tobacco note, alongside the amber and patchouli. Furthermore, there is also some sweetness coming from the mandarin.

The mandarin also helps give the cologne a nice hint of freshness!

Once the fragrance dries, it really starts to shine. A few more of the notes come into play, like the lavender, cardamom and pepper. They’re in the background, but they’re there.

Overall, the scent doesn’t change too much from when you first spray it to when it completely dries on your skin.

I can see why so many people rave about this fragrance. The cherry tobacco note is well done for a cheapie scent. It’s not too strong, a little sweet and very smooth.

Longevity and Projection

The performance of this scent is good for the price you pay. I get a few hours of longevity out of this and it lasts on my skin for about 6 hours. Furthermore, it’ll last even longer in the cold weather.

Occasions and Versatility

This scent works for guys in their teens, 20’s and 30’s. It’s fairly playful and a mass appealing fragrance. Moreover, it’ll be best for you in casual day or night situations.

I totally appreciate the bottle design that Calvin Klein has going on with their scents. Uniquely, it comes with a screw cap on, which you then remove to screw the provided sprayer on.

This allows you easy access to the fragrance if you ever want to decant it into a portable fragrance sprayer.

Performance is far from ideal but that opening is something to behold. Very rich and complex, just wish it would last more than 20 minutes before the vanilla dry down. Regardless, an absolute steal at the price point on discounter sites and a no brainer in terms of blind buying. This is a “cheapie” that should be in everyone’s collection.
