Acqua di Gio Profondo is one of the latest cologne releases from Giorgio Armani. I’ve owned a bottle for 6 months now, so for the next 2 minutes I’m going to give you my honest opinion on what I think about this scent!
Profondo is an aromatic fougere fragrance for men. It contains accords of sea notes, bergamot, rosemary, cypress, lavender, musk, amber, and a few others.
How Does Profondo Smell?
When first sprayed on skin, I pick up a unique and fresh oceanic aroma! The opening reminds me a lot of waves rolling down the beach. This is definitely coming from the aquatic sea notes, but the bergamot, rosemary and cypress are detectable too.
Furthermore, the Acqua di Gio Profondo certainly changes as it develops on my skin. The sea notes give way to the lavender, musk and amber, but mineral and citrus notes are present to maintain the freshness.
Additionally, I find the rosemary and cypress to be some of the best accords in this scent. They give it a rare, herbaceous aspect that you don’t get in other fresh fragrances.
In my opinion, Profondo is a modern take on the original Acqua di Gio from the 1990’s. It takes the original fragrance and adds a complex & appealing richness to it from the accords I mentioned above.
Longevity and Projection
Performance on this cologne is about the same as the rest of the Acqua di Gio line. The scent projects strongly for the first 2 hours and lasts 6 hours total. I’d recommend you reapply after 6 hours to enjoy it for the entire day!
Occasions and Versatility
Profondo is a very versatile scent. I like to wear this to the office and casual events when the weather is warm. You can dress this fragrance up or down pretty easily.
Furthermore, I think Profondo is at its absolute best in hot weather. This scent is a superstar during summer and hot days when you just want to smell good.
However, if your climate is very cold, there are better options available to you, like some colognes from Mugler.

Awesome, no one can really be offended by this. My first impression: Calm. Deep blue sea. Rosemary touch mixed with minerals and cooling patchouli.Fragrantica.com
